Iran targets US bases in Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait in retaliatory strikes

US President Donald Trump says Iran is taking too long to negotiate a deal over the Middle East conflict and will have to, quote, "pay the price". Those comments coming after Tehran said it is reassessing diplomatic engagement with Washington, following a fresh exchange of strikes between the two sides across the Gulf. Iran says it targeted American military bases in Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait. The escalation in hostilities comes after US forces struck Iranian assets south of the country. Washington has described the move as a proportional response, in retaliation to the downing of an American helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz.
