One year since catastrophic June 2025 Mthatha floods

Today marks a year since devastating floods killed over a hundred people in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.

Decoligny remains a symbol of the tragedy, after scores of people lost their lives when their houses were submerged under water.

A school bus carrying thirteen learners who were on their way to school was also swept away. Ten learners drowned, while only three survived.
