FIFA World Cup | Bafana in Mexico City for a date with destiny

Bafana Bafana received a hero's welcome when they arrived in Mexico City earlier today for their opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup against co-hosts Mexico.

The team was welcomed by scores of local fans, and a handful of travelling South Africans at the team hotel.

The team spent a week at their base camp in Pachuca, before moving to Mexico City two days before the much-anticipated opening match of the tournament.
