Independent Police Investigative Directorate Assistant Director, Takalani Maphosho, has failed to substantiate claims that Major General Khan's presence at the crime scene during a drug bust in Aeroton in Johannesburg amounted to interference, or that his actions defeated the ends of justice.
Questioned by Advocates Sandile Khumalo and Sesi Baloyi, Maphosho appeared to contradict parts of her statement, particularly about how the crime scene was managed.
She suggested that there may have been more than one container suspected of carrying drugs.
First responders, Warrant Officers Boy Phakula and Marumo Mogane, and Gauteng Traffic Police Chief Samuel Mashaba, laid a formal complaint.
They claimed that senior SAPS and Hawks officials interfered in what they maintain was a lawful operation, leading to their arrest.
