JHB City Parks | Cemetries running out of burial space

Johannesburg currently has 42 cemeteries, of which 37 are full. Only 5 remain active, and space is limited. The Johannesburg City Parks & Zoo is urging families to consider alternative burial options such as burials inside mausoleum chambers, cremation, or re-opening family graves to ease future pressures and costs.
