NDR 2026: Singapore to take Garden City vision further to become 'City in Nature'

Nearly half of Singapore is covered in greenery, and the country will continue to expand its green spaces and strengthen native biodiversity as it works towards becoming a “City in Nature”, said Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in his National Day Rally speech on Sunday (Aug 23).

With land and space limited, Mr Wong said Singapore must continue to plan far ahead to create options for future generations while preserving what is precious about the country.

“We plan not just for the next five or ten years. We plan fifty, seventy, even one hundred years ahead,” he said. #NDR2026 #singapore #sgnews
