French government 'under pressure' amid public outcry over children protection failures

The French Justice minister convened public prosecutors on June 8. Gerald Darmanin told them they would need to review some 70 thousand cases concerning children by July 14. It comes after the body of an 11-year-old girl was found several days after she went missing at the end of May. The main suspect had been accused of sexually abusing children, prompting many to question the failures in France's judicial system.
