''Fertiliser Availability Remains Stable'': Additional Secretary, Department of Fertilisers

For the ongoing Kharif season, farmers have purchased 86.65 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of fertilizers, accounting for 22.57% of the total requirement. They have also procured 11.17 LMT of organic manure, compared to 3.20 LMT in the corresponding period last year, indicating a growing shift towards organic nutrient sources. There is currently no major challenge in fertilizer availability. Domestic production and imports are continuing, with 147.40 LMT of fertilizers produced or imported so far. In June, over 25,000 metric tonnes of imported urea, DAP, and NPK fertilizers have arrived at ports, while a tender for 17 LMT of urea is under process. Subsidy payments are being made regularly as per budgetary provisions, and the situation is being closely monitored by the Empowered Group of Secretaries to ensure adequate availability of fertilizers and raw materials: Aparna S.
