The Japanese city of Utsunomiya suspended all 94 of its primary and middle schools on Monday (Jun 8 ) after its first-ever bear sighting.
The city, about 100km north of Tokyo, said the bear was first spotted in a residential area near a park on Saturday evening. In the early hours of Sunday, surveillance footage from one of the city's major shopping streets captured the animal running past two startled bystanders.
The bear remains at large, with its most recent sighting reported early Monday morning about 500m from a middle school. #japan #japannews
