Gulf aviation hub will regain its position once stability returns, says IATA chief

The global airline industry has cut its profit forecast as rising jet fuel prices and Middle East tensions weigh on carriers. In a report released on Sunday (Jun 7) during the International Air Transport Association's (IATA) annual general meeting in Rio de Janeiro, held from Jun 6 to 8, the industry body said Gulf carriers have been among the airlines most affected by the conflict. Speaking to CNA's Yasmin Jonkers at the gathering, IATA Director General Willie Walsh said Gulf airlines had responded strongly to the crisis, praising carriers for quickly restoring operations and supporting affected passengers.
