Fitch upgrades SA's credit ratings

South Africa has received its first sovereign credit rating upgrade from Fitch Ratings Agency, for the first time in two decades.

The decision takes South Africa's long-term foreign and local currency credit rating two levels below investment grade, with a stable outlook.

Government has welcomed the move, noting it as a show of confidence in South Africa's public finance management efforts.
