Political violence a stain on SA's democracy: SAFTU General Secretary Zwelinzima Vavi

South African Federation of Trade Unions' (SAFTU) General Secretary, Zwelinzima Vavi, says the assassination of social activist, Mokoena Letsie, is a reminder of political violence that remains a stain in the country's democracy.

He was speaking at the prominent community leader's funeral in Potchestroom earlier this morning after he was allegedly shot 17 times on May 27 2026, in the Hashtag informal settlement.
