Former organised crime boss Richard Shibiri has been dismissed from his position.

A reliable source told SABC that Shibiri's dismissal followed a disciplinary hearing conducted last month (May 2026).

Meanwhile, Colonel Gavin Jacob of the KwaZulu-Natal Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit has had another gruelling day on the stand at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.

Jacob admitted to discrepancies in his pocketbook about what transpired on the 22nd of June 2021 during the drug bust at the Isipingo depot in Durban, where 541 kilograms of cocaine, valued at approximately R200 million, was intercepted by members of the Hawks and SAPS Border Unit.
