Boosting US coal industry: Trump says initiative will bring down energy costs

US President Donald Trump has announced federal funding worth $700 million for coal projects to clamp down on soaring energy costs.

He's invoking a law dating back to the Cold War that gives the president emergency powers over domestic industries.

Trump is under pressure to shield Americans from the rising costs of fuel and basic goods, because of the Iran war.
