A legal battle is brewing at Ambira High School in Ugunja, Siaya County, after 165 parents of Grade 10 learners petitioned the High Court in Nairobi over a 33,thousand shillings arson and damage fine slapped on each student by the institution. The parents are protesting what they term as an exorbitant levy imposed on them as a re-admission fee after a May 19th unrest at the school, which has a population of 2000 students. And as Ruth Wamboi reports, the parents now want the Court to declare the decision by the institution to deny entry to the learners until they pay the 33,000 as illegal, null and void.
