Ukrainian strike on Petersburg during “Russian Davos” is “trolling” Putin | Roland Freudenstein

On the same day of the “Russian Davos,” the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, was opening in Vladimir Putin’s native city, Ukrainian drones struck several targets across Russia’s former imperial capital, including one of the country’s largest oil refineries. Was the timing of the strike dictated by anything other than purely military considerations?

“Obviously, it was to troll Putin and to steal his show for the Saint Petersburg Economic Forum,” Roland Freudenstein, co-founder of Brussels Freedom Hub, told TVP World, noting how “the purpose of the forum in general (...) is to show to the world that the Russian economy is surviving.”

“And there’s a burning oil storage with a thick black cloud that spoils the narrative of everything being hunky dory in Russia. And I think that was the purpose. So: mission accomplished,” he added.
