Correctional Services PS decries continuous underfunding of prisons

Correctional Services Principal Secretary Salome Beacco has decried continuous underfunding of prisons' maintenance by Treasury. Appearing before the National Assembly Public Accounts Committee, Beacco said the State Department has for the last two financial years been forced to operate under a rationalised budget, hence the deplorable conditions in various prisons due to lack of funds for maintenance.
