Property Market | Rates pressure slows down housing demand

South Africa's housing market could see weaker demand in the coming months as rising interest rates and renewed inflation pressures linked to the Middle East conflict, weigh on conditions.

Independent Economist, John Loos, says aspirant buyers who rely on credit are likely to remain on the sidelines if the Reserve Bank maintains a tight monetary policy stance.

He adds that upcoming house price data is expected to reflect a moderation in year-on-year growth.
