UNSC Election | Zimbabwe elected to UN Security Council seat for 2-year term

Zimbabwe has been elected for a non-permanent, two-year term on the United Nations Security Council, the third time the country will be represented on the body mandated to maintain international peace and security.

Zimbabwe replaces Somalia on the Council, whose term ends on the 31st of December, and joins the Democratic Republic of Congo and Liberia on the Council as part of the "A3" in 2027.

Austria, Portugal and Trinidad and Tobago were also elected, while Kyrgyzstan beat the Philippines for the fifth and final seat after several rounds of voting.
