Kyiv test-fires first homegrown ballistic missile | Ukraine Brief

Ukraine launched a wave of drone attacks against Russia overnight, targeting the St. Petersburg oil refinery, a weapons manufacturing facility in Russia’s Tambov region, as well as a warship at Russia’s Kronstadt naval base, off St. Petersburg’s coast.

The Ukrainian defense firm Fire Point has announced the successful test of a rocket that will be used in Ukraine’s first ballistic interceptor missile.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte is in Kyiv on Wednesday on an unannounced visit, meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other senior Ukrainian officials. As Kyiv continues to develop its drone and missile capabilities, Rutte said Ukraine’s battlefield successes are increasing pressure on the Kremlin and that Vladimir Putin was only able to stage the May 9 celebrations because Ukraine allowed it.
