WATCH | The Nari Shakti Vandan Amendment in the House was not meant to take anything away from anyone. It was an amendment designed to give something to everyone, to empower. It sought to grant women the rights that had been pending for 40 years, starting from the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. This amendment was a grand initiative to provide new opportunities to women of 21st-century India, to give them wings to fly, and to remove the obstacles in their path.

It was a sincere and honest effort, with clear intent, to ensure that the 50% of our population, our women, receive their rightful representation. It aimed to make women equal partners in India’s journey of development and to bring everyone together. The Nari Shakti Vandan Amendment is the need of the hour.

It was also an effort to equally strengthen all states, North, South, East, and West, by enhancing representation in a balanced manner. Whether a state is large or small, whether its population is high or low, the attempt was to increase everyone’s strength proportionately and amplify every state’s voice in Parliament.

However, this honest effort was opposed by the Congress and its allies, who, in front of the entire nation, effectively strangled it before it could take shape: PM @narendramodi
