#WATCH | I personally had hoped that Congress would correct its decades-old mistake. I expected that it would atone for its past wrongs. But Congress missed a historic opportunity to stand in support of women. Today, Congress has lost its presence in most parts of the country. It survives like a parasite, riding on the backs of regional parties, yet it does not even want those regional parties to grow stronger.

That is why, by opposing this amendment, Congress has hatched a political conspiracy to push the future of many regional parties into darkness. The Congress, the Samajwadi Party, the DMK, the TMC, and other parties have, for years, repeated the same excuses and manufactured the same flawed arguments. Time and again, they have used technical hurdles as a pretext to deny women their rights. The country has now clearly understood this pattern in politics and the reasons behind it.

There is a major reason behind the opposition to the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. These dynastic parties are afraid. They fear that if women become truly empowered, their leadership will be at risk. They do not want women outside their own families to rise and move forward. Today, thousands and lakhs of women have proven their capabilities in panchayats and local bodies. When these women aspire to move forward, to enter the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, and to serve the nation, these dynastic forces feel insecure.

After delimitation, there will be significantly more seats for women, and their stature will rise. That is precisely why these parties have opposed the Nari Shakti Vandan Amendment: PM
