Unpacking Ramaphosa's budget vote speech

President Cyril Ramaphosa says the findings of the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry will be sharpening the work of the police.

The President was addressing members of the National Assembly when he was tabling his budget vote in the National Assembly yesterday (02 June 2026).

He says the recommendations of the Commission's first interim report have led to the arrest of certain individuals who were found to be on the wrong side of the law.

Ramaphosa also reiterated the Presidency's support for stronger parliamentary oversight, describing it as a critical pillar of transparency, accountability and democratic governance.
