Government to upgrade National Child Helpline to improve access to protection services

The Government has moved to strengthen child protection systems across the country in the wake of the tragic fire incident at Utumishi Girls Academy last week, where 16 students lost their lives. Principal Secretary for Children Services CPA Carren Ageng’o says the tragedy exposed deep gaps in child safety, mental health support and early warning mechanisms within schools, prompting urgent reforms to the National Child Helpline 116.
