We Talk: Lao youth on China-Laos rail links and closer connections

General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith arrived in Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province, on June 2 for a five-day state visit.

As 2026 marks the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Laos, and the Year of China-Laos Friendship, a CGTN stringer in Vientiane interviewed young locals about their impressions of China and their views on China-Lao cooperation projects.

A graduate named Poupe recalled a visit she made to China when she was younger. Newton, a freelancer, said he takes the China-Laos Railway home almost every year. Bank Thanasoud, a college student, said he hopes that cooperation between the two countries continues to develop, creating more opportunities for Lao and Chinese people to interact and build closer ties.
