UN Security Council DIVIDED Over Israel’s Actions in Lebanon

The UN Security Council has held a heated emergency meeting on the escalating situation between Israel and Lebanon, with most members condemning violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty and calling for respect for international law.

France, which convened the meeting, pushed for support of upcoming diplomatic talks between Israel and Lebanon aimed at de-escalation. Meanwhile, the United States shifted focus toward Hezbollah and Iran, highlighting sharply different positions among council members.

As tensions rise, questions remain over whether diplomacy can prevent further escalation and stabilize the region under existing UN resolutions.
