The Cabinet has approved a major infrastructure project connecting Ghaziabad to Sitapur via Hapur, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Roza, and Sitapur, creating a new double-line corridor.
The project will be developed as a four-lane/quadruplicated high-capacity, semi high-speed corridor with advanced safety systems like Kavach. It includes bypass routes to avoid congestion in urban areas.
Valued at ₹14,926 crore with a 403 km main stretch, the project will include six new stations: New Hapur, New Moradabad, New Rampur, New Bareilly, New Shahjahanpur, and New Sitapur.
It features 5 mega bridges, 52 major bridges, 306 minor bridges, 238 underpasses, 9 road overbridges, and 5 rail overbridges. The corridor will improve connectivity across multiple districts of Uttar Pradesh and boost freight movement, benefiting key industrial sectors like textiles, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and handicrafts: Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw
