Jozini Local Municipality is one of the four municipalities within the uMkhanyakude District Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal, bordered by Mozambique and Swaziland.

For years, the municipality has grappled with challenges of cross border crime, with residents calling for government intervention.

The Auditor General's (AG) report for 2023/2024 also flagged fruitless and wasteful expenditure, amounting to more than R14 million, and irregular expenditure of more than R140 million.
