Witness D Murder | Matipandile Sotheni faces 16 charges

The Brakpan Magistrate's Court is expected to deliver judgment in the bail application of Matipandile Sotheni on Monday.

Sotheni, a former South African Police Service (SAPS) Special Task Force member, is accused of killing Madlanga Commission witness Marius van der Merwe, also known as Witness D.

The State has strongly opposed bail, arguing that Sotheni poses a flight risk and could interfere with witnesses if released, while the defence maintains that he has strong community ties, no previous convictions, and intends standing trial to prove his innocence.
