How Is India Trying to Decolonise Its Education System Through NEP 2020? | Macaulay’s Brainwash Exposed!

The National Education Policy 2020 has brought back a powerful debate: should Indian education reconnect with Indian languages, Indian Knowledge Systems, Sanskrit, regional languages, and India’s own civilisational wisdom?

But to understand why this matters today, we have to go back nearly 190 years.

In 1835, Thomas Babington Macaulay introduced the Minute on Indian Education — a policy that changed the Indian education system forever. Macaulay’s education model was not just about teaching English. It created a mindset where English became a symbol of intelligence, Western knowledge became the measure of superiority, and Indian languages, Indian texts, gurukuls, pathshalas, Sanskrit literature, Ayurveda, astronomy, mathematics, philosophy and civilisational knowledge were slowly pushed aside.

NEP 2020, mother tongue education, regional languages and Indian Knowledge Systems are part of a larger civilisational question: can India become a modern global knowledge power without forgetting who we are?

India became politically independent in 1947. But the deeper question is — have we become mentally free?
