South Africa is facing growing tensions over undocumented foreign nationals.
According to police more than 70 000 undocumented foreign nationals have been arrested between April 2025 and March 2026 across the country.
Meanwhile, International Relations and Co-operation Minister Ronald Lamola has called for greater African solidarity and stronger regional co-operation, warning that irregular migration, youth unemployment, and socio-economic pressures require collective solutions across the continent.
His remarks come amid renewed debate over migration management, following reports of anti-immigration tensions in parts of SA and voluntary repatriation flights, including a group of around 300 Ghanaian nationals who have now returned to Accra.
To discuss this matter further we are joined in the studio by by Tshepo Matseba, Managing Director of Reputation 1st Group and Human Sciences Research Council Chief Research Specialist Dr Steven Gordon.
