President Cyril Ramaphosa says the Madlanga Commission serves as a necessary cleansing process for the country and the criminal justice system in particular.
He was speaking to the SABC News on the sidelines of the launch of Gauteng ANC voter registration campaign at Riversideview in Diepsloot, North of Johannesburg.
Ramaphosa received the commission's second interim report on Friday.
The Madlanga Commission is investigating criminality, political interference and corruption in the criminal justice system.
It is expected to finish its work at the end of August and submit its final report to the president.
Ramaphosa says he is still studying the interim report.
