Period poverty remains one of the most overlooked challenges facing South Africa today, affecting an estimated 8 million women and girls.

For many, the lack of access to affordable and safe menstrual products not only compromises their health and dignity but also disrupts their education and daily lives.

Girls in disadvantaged communities are often forced to miss school during their menstrual cycles, widening existing inequalities and limiting future opportunities.

Despite growing awareness, period poverty continues to reflect deeper issues of economic inequality, social stigma, and inadequate public support systems, making it a critical issue that demands urgent attention.
