Lebanon: President Joseph Aoun meets Trump as security talks continue over southern Lebanon

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has arrived in Washington D.C. for a historic meeting with US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as diplomatic efforts focus on security arrangements in Southern Lebanon.

The talks come amid discussions over proposed security “pilot zones” aimed at strengthening the Lebanese government’s control over the country’s security. Secretary Rubio said Washington wants Lebanon’s government to become the sole authority responsible for security.
