Higher Education Minister Buti Manamela appears before Portfolio Committee

Higher Education Minister Buti Manamela insists that he did not instruct any of the displaced NSFAS board members to act outside of their fiduciary duties.

Manamela and members of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) came face to face with the Portfolio Committee on Higher Education and Training on Friday to hash out what exactly transpired during the April 14 meeting, when Manamela is said to have instructed board members to appoint a new CEO of his choosing.

Committee members want to get to the bottom of what happened in that meeting as both the minister and the NSFAS board have presented completely different versions.
