Phala Phala report | ATM pushes for Section 89 review application to be heard by August

African Transformation Movement (ATM) Parliamentary leader, Vuyo Zungula, is pushing for the Western Cape High Court to hear the Phala Phala review application as early as August, arguing that delays would undermine constitutional accountability and the parliamentary impeachment process.

He says the matter should be treated with urgency due to its constitutional significance.

In court papers filed in the Cape Town High Court on Monday, President Cyril Ramaphosa cited Zungula as a fifth respondent, alongside retired Chief Justice Sandile Ngcobo, Thokozile Masipa, Mahlape Sello, and National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza.
