Homa Bay County launches crackdown on illegal fishing gear in Lake Victoria

Homa Bay county has commenced an exercise to impound and arrest those using illegal fishing gear in Lake Victoria. The county’sfisheries director, Michael Omondi said the administration was committed to promoting sustainable management of marine resources to safeguard the future of the sector. He said the destruction of the impounded gear is carried out after court orders are issued following the arraignment of suspects.
