Nawrocki: ”Ukraine not ready to be part of European family in terms of grappling with its history”

The Polish President wants to strip his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle, Poland’s highest state decoration.

The move comes after the Ukrainian president named one of Ukraine’s military units after fighters from the Ukrainian Insurgent Army.

”Unfortunately, President Zelenskyy has proven that Ukraine is not ready to be part of the European family, in terms of grappling with its own history – specifically, its glorification of thugs and murderers from the Ukrainian Insurgent Army,” Polish President Karol Nawrocki said.

The Ukrainian Insurgent Army was responsible for killing some 100,000 Poles in a World War Two massacre and assisted Nazi Germany with the Holocaust.
