Time for Europe to adopt hardline approach to dealing with Russia | Gerlinde Niehus

Among the things discussed by EU’s top diplomats meeting in Cyprus were the conditions Europe should present to Russia during prospective Ukraine peace negotiations, with one of the demands being a reduction of the size of Russian armed forces. But is coming forward with such a hardline approach a good idea?

“I’ve been advocating for Russia containment strategy for a number of years now,so you you will not hear from me that taking a clear, principled line towards Russia is not a good idea. Yes it is,” Gerlinde Niehus, former Deputy Director for Defense and Security Cooperation at NATO, told TVP World.
