Mkhwanazi and Matlala appear on corruption charges

Judgment has been reserved in the bail application of suspended EMPD Deputy Chief Julius Mkhwanazi.

Mkhwanazi appeared in the Germiston Magistrate's Court, alongside alleged kingpin Vusimuzi Matlala and Ekurhuleni fleet manager Chris Steyn.

They are facing charges of corruption, fraud and defeating the ends of justice. This relates to the alleged unlawful fitment of blue lights on vehicles owned by Matlala's company - CAT VIP Protection Services.
