The EU should demand limits on the number of Russian troops deployed and the withdrawal of their forces from Moldova and Georgia if negotiations with Moscow are to move forward, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said at talks in Cyprus today. Her comments come as the bloc explores whether to appoint an envoy for direct peace talks with Russia over Ukraine, following a standstill in U.S.-led mediation efforts.

POLAND UPGRADES MILITARY CAPABILITY WITH EU DEFENSE LOAN-BACKED DEALS
Security Action for Europe, the EU's new financial instrument, is taking shape in Poland. On Thursday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz signed the first deals that allow the loan to start boosting Poland’s military capability.
