President Donald Trump has said the United States has not agreed a deal with Iran, stating Washington is not satisfied with what Tehran has offered. Speaking at his 12th cabinet meeting since returning to the White House, Trump warned he may “go back and finish the job” if negotiations fail, while insisting the Strait of Hormuz will remain open to all countries and no state will control the waterway. He said Iran is seeking an agreement but claimed it is negotiating under pressure and “on fumes”.
US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are leading the talks, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance expressing cautious optimism in recent days that a deal could still be reached.
Al Jazeera’s Manuel Rapalo reports from the White House, Washington, DC.
