Spaza shop compliance in Ekurhuleni: Mbongiseni Sangweni weighs in

The City of Ekurhuleni’s Spaza Shop Compliance campaign is not linked to the recent anti-illegal immigration sentiment. This has been announced by the Executive Mayor of the City of Ekurhuleni, Nkosindiphile Xhakaza. Xhakaza was speaking during a multi-disciplinary operation targeting non-compliant spaza shops and illegally constructed buildings in Vosloorus. He says their operation forms part of a broader by-law enforcement programme launched shortly after he took office in 2024.
