Pistachio industry going nuts

Farmers in the Karoo are on a mission to turn South Africa into the fourth-largest exporter of pistachios in the next decade.

Prieska and Upington farmers in the Northern Cape are investing sizeable amounts of capital into the pistachio industry.

Farmers in Prieska have started exporting 20 tons of pistachios, with the aim of producing over 60 thousand tons in the next 10 years.
