Trump-backed Paxton topples Senator Cornyn in Texas primary run-off

In the US state of Texas, the candidate backed by President Donald Trump has won the primary election to stand as the Republican candidate in November’s senate race.
Ken Paxton, who is the state's Attorney General, beat long-time incumbent Senator John Cornyn in a tight and very expensive contest.
