City of Tshwane obtains court interdict to demolish illegal property

The City of Tshwane says it's not contravening the Prevention of Illegal Eviction Act by NOT providing alternative accommodation to tenants occupying a building earmarked for demolition due to municipal bylaw contraventions.

The city obtained a court order to evict occupants within 30 days and demolish the property.

Eight more buildings linked to the same alleged rogue developer are still awaiting court orders for possible demolition.
