Draft US-Iran deal says Strait of Hormuz to be fully opened in exchange for sanction waivers: Report

Washington and Tehran may be closing in on an initial peace deal. US President Donald Trump says the agreement has been largely negotiated. His Iranian counterpart, Masoud Pezeshkian says he's ready to reassure the world that Tehran is not seeking nuclear weapons. On Truth Social, Mr Trump said part of the preliminary deal is the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Reports from both sides indicate that the move would result in sanctions waivers for Iran. Washington's top diplomat has signalled that an announcement on the matter is imminent. He reiterated that Iran would never have nuclear weapons. But unnamed senior Iranian officials have denied the nuclear programme is part of the initial agreement.
