India-US Defence Roadmap Finally Revealed #DrSJaishankar #MarcoRubio

This is Secretary Marco Rubio’s first visit to India, but we have been in regular touch since his very first day in office. I was among the first to meet him, and we have since met in Washington DC, New York, and most recently in France. This continuous engagement has helped strengthen the broad-based cooperation between our two countries. We share a strong strategic partnership based on converging national interests. Yesterday, the Secretary called on the Prime Minister, and we discussed global and regional issues, including West Asia, the Indian subcontinent, and East Asia. I also shared my impressions from my recent Caribbean visit. Today’s lunch discussions will focus on the latest developments in the Gulf and the Ukraine conflict. The Indo-Pacific will be taken up at the Quad meeting on 26th May. On defence cooperation, the 10-year Major Defence Partnership framework has been renewed, and a comprehensive Underwater Domain Awareness roadmap was signed. We also discussed incorporating Make in India and lessons from recent conflicts going forward.: EAM Dr S Jaishankar
