India-US Focus on Critical Minerals

All of you know the importance of critical minerals. Our two nations are cooperating bilaterally, in the Quad, and as like-minded groups. India joined the Pax Silica and the FORGE initiative. The AI Impact Summit in New Delhi in February highlighted the potential of the India-US relationship, and we will encourage our businesses in AI. As India's semiconductor and AI capabilities grow, this cooperation will become more prominent. People-to-people ties are at the heart of our relationship. I apprised Secretary Rubio of visa challenges faced by legitimate travelers. While we address illegal mobility, legal mobility should not be impacted. This is important for business, technology and research cooperation. India and the United States share common interests and challenges, especially terrorism. Our position is zero tolerance. We appreciate the strong cooperation between our agencies, including the extradition of a key planner of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. We will intensify cooperation bilaterally and internationally, including on narcotics. Our ongoing discussions covered regional and global issues. India's broad position is: One, dialogue and diplomacy to resolve conflicts. Two, safe and unimpeded maritime commerce. Three, scrupulous respect for international law. Four, against weaponization of markets and resources. Five, trusted partnerships and resilient supply chains to derisk the global economy.
