As far as the Ministry of External Affairs is concerned, we are closely monitoring developments in the Gulf. You would have seen the Prime Minister’s highly successful visit to the United Arab Emirates. Let me briefly underline the key highlights once again. As you are aware, the Prime Minister paid a highly successful visit to the UAE on 15th May. Several key agreements were signed during the visit, which have particularly strengthened India’s energy security, especially regarding LPG supplies, and also reinforced our strategic petroleum reserves. There were agreements on investments as well, leading to fresh investment flows from Abu Dhabi and the UAE into India, including Indian entities in infrastructure and other sectors. In addition, a framework for a defence strategic partnership was signed, which has further strengthened our defence cooperation with the UAE. Our missions in the region continue to remain in touch with the Indian diaspora for their welfare and well-being.
